History of '45379'
New to the LMS 07/1937 with Armstrong Whitworth works number 1434. 45379 was initially allocated to Crewe North (5A). When under BR it was allocated to Rugby (2A) where it remained for 1 year. A re-allocation to Northampton (2C) followed by spells to Crewe North (5A), Bletchley (1E) and Willesden (1A) where 45379 was finally withdrawn in July 1965. Sold to the Woodham Brothers for scrap 45379 remained at Barry until 1974 where the locomotive was bought for restoration and taken to the Avon Valley Railway, later moved to the Great Central Railway. 45379 was bought then by the Mid Hants Railway Preservation Society and was subsequently moved to Alresford in 2002 returning to steam in 2010.
